for the forests of Southern Finland
Only
about one percent of the forests of the southernmost Finland is protected.
In the campaign area of environmental ngos, the forest protection
rate is about two percent.
The amount
of protected forests has to be increased up to five percent by year
2010. In long term, some 10 % of the forest area in Southern Finland
needs to be protected.
In order
to reach this target, a forest protection programme is needed. To
implement it, adequate funding is essential.
The time
for the campaign is from January 27 to August 31, 2005.
